"ROTTERDAM – Enthusiastic participants was the only result of Formula Zero’s Dutch Incert eRally with electric vehicles in the area of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Participants from the working group ‘Environment and Safety’ of the electric mobility review, grabbed the steering wheel of this type of sustainable mobility themselves on Friday."
D-incert (Dutch Innovation Centre for Electric Road Transport) has been founded in 2008 by the three Dutch Universities of Technology (TU Eindhoven, TU Twente and TU Delft) and the Universities of Applied Sciences from Rotterdam and Arnhem/Nijmegen (HRo and HAN). Since then, NGInfra, Prorail, KEMA, Eneco, ARN, the ANWB and Essent have joined D-incert as strategic innovation partners. D-incert facilitates knowledge sharing, joint innovation and agenda setting in the Netherlands.
Electric success
Among the electric cars were Think City Cars, Volkswagen Golf Variant E, Daihatsu S2E, Tazzari Zero and a hybrid Volkswagen Beetle from scientific research centre TNO. All electric cars finished without any problems, while the Beetle needed the helping hands of the organizers to keep it going.
Location of the start and finish of the rally was at RDM Campus in Heijplaat, in the center of the Rotterdam city port. This historical industrial location is a place where students and companies collaborate in an open environment and focus on new economic activity and sustainable and innovative solutions in the markets building, moving and powering. All participants were able to share knowledge and experiences with electric mobility before they got in the car and got acquainted with the muddy country roads and historic villages in the area of Rotterdam.
After successfully answering the questions and finding the correct directions, team Stefan van Dijk and Pauline van der Vorm (both TU Delft / D-incert) were honoured as winners.
