"THE HAGUE – Renault F1 test driver Ho-Pin Tung revealed TU Delfts third generation hydrogen race vehicle in The Hague on Wednesday. The experienced driver from Velp got behind the wheel and showed press and general public what the vehicle of the student team is capable of. The team says this zero emission race vehicle is about to win the Formula Zero Dutch Grand Prix that will take place on August 19th at the Spuiplein in The Hague."
The zero emission race car from the team ‘Greenchoice Forze’ impressed Tung, who started his career in karts. The Dutch Chinese driver likes technic innovation, finds clean technologies important and foresees great opportunities. “I’m deeply impressed to see what’s possible with hydrogen and how well it already has been developed”, says Ho-Pin Tung. “I’m convinced that alternative energy in motorsports will play an important role on short term. Also for vehicles on the streets.”
It was a unique experience for Tung, who is a current GP2 Series driver and demonstrated the Renault F1 car on the Hungaroring earlier this month. “You have various procedures when you are about to start a Formula 1 car, and there is no different with the FORZE III from these students. The vehicle is highly advanced and you can see that also from the outside with the aerodynamic contour. It also has a lot of power”, says Tung. “I think the guys that have worked on this vehicle have thought about a lot of things, also matters beyond the race car.”
The Formula Zero Dutch Grand Prix will take place on Thursday 19th of August on the Spuiplein in The Hague, the Netherlands. It will be Greenchoice Forze’s first opportunity to compete with their new vehicle against the other Formula Zero competitors.
