"Formula Zero organized test drives in electric vehicles in commission of the Dutch Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management on Wednesday 4th of November."
Visitors of the Innovation-relay Water, Transport and Mobility were able to drive an electric Golf or Lotus for free on the former runway of Airport Valkenburg in the Netherlands.
There is much debate on electric mobility nowadays, but few interested people have experienced what it’s like to drive silently and sustainable. After the successful demonstration of Formula Zero’s Chauffeurs Event, visitors were, in co-operation with Innosys Delft BV and ECE cars, able to get exposed to electric vehicles through driving Volkswagen Golf and Lotus Elise.
Every participant was impressed by the acceleration of the electric vehicles and to drive almost silently. Many of them are looking forward to driving an electric vehicle in the future, as well as for private as business purposes.
Camiel Eurlings, Minister of Transport, Public Works and Water Management, got behind the wheel of the electric Golf and took Formula E-team leader Prince Maurits with him. The minister said that the Netherlands is suitable to lead the way in electric mobility and confirmed that 65 million euro’s will be spent to make introduction of electric mobility available on large scale.
