Team Ambition:
It is a University with experience in important technological and sport projects. The projects in which the R&D department of this university is involved, go from navigation systems for high competition ships, present in six teams of The America’s Cup, to the production in compound fibers of sailing ships for minor competitions, through optimization of competition cars, bench testing, parameterization and instrumentation of these. And they also have projects with the European Aerospace Agency. The EUPLA R&D is a multidisciplinary department which principal objective is to investigate and technological development applied to experimental mechanics, CAD/CAM/CAE process, composite part design/building, data acquisition, digital systems development (hardware/software) and internet/intranet applications.
Together with this University, “Foundation for the development of new Hydrogen technologies in Aragon” is cooperating within hydrogen systems. This Foundation, which one of its council is this University, is an initiative of the regional Aragon Government that expects to promote renewable energy sources with the support of the hydrogen as energetic vector. These activities have allowed their technicians to acquire knowledge on these technologies, which for being the latest, few people can boast about it.
The area where these two entities are located has a great automobile sector. Near the Aragonese capital is located one of the main factories of the American company GM, supplied by numerous auxiliary companies of the sector, employing thousands of Aragonese and generating the industrial biggest benefit in the region. All of these are applicable to Spain because other companies such as Chrysler, Volkswagen, Ford, Citroen, etc. have factories in our country. This Government has implanted the construction of a very modern F1 circuit in a small (but with a high race history) city called ‘La Ciudad del Motor de ALCAÑIZ’. This circuit has been designed by the prestigious designer Hermann Tilke in the collaboration with the veteran and high experienced F1 race driver, Pedro Martinez de la Rosa. This new circuit will be added to the prestigious list of Spanish tracks like Montmeló, Valencia, Jerez or Jarama. Apart from this initiative it is expected to create business park with companies in the sector, close to the motor city, it is fomenting the construction of new karting circuits, motocross and rally, and Aragon has several rally events, being the most important ‘Baja Aragon España’. Without forgetting that Spain contributes a lot of technicians to the competition world.
Team Composition and capabilities for the FZ project.
A multidisciplinary team is configured to apply the diverse Engineering to develop the Formula Zero project: Mechanical engineers, Electronic engineers, Industrial designers, Informatics, Materials Engineer, etc. the intention of the team is to achieve a good collaboration between members. There are appointed 9 principal members for the team, but is predictable to add some ‘part time members’ to aid the team to draw parts, do FEA calculations, meshing and other works.
